Abstract:
The translational diffusion of bulk and confined to pores of 38 Angstrom of MCM-41 tert-butyl chloride was investigated in the temperature range 293-160 K by PFGSTE experiment. The diffusivity of bulk TBC undergoes a discontinuous reduction at the melting point. The activation energy of the process was calculated to be 15.4 kJ/mol in the liquid phase and 40.6 kJ/mol in the plastic phase. Diffusivity of TBC confined to MCM-41 is described by strongly non Gaussian propagators and the echo attenuation for long diffusion times exhibit diffusion diffraction.
