Abstract:
A study of polycrystalline tetramethylammonium hexafluorophosphate, employing techniques in differential scanning colorimetry, X-ray powder diffraction and nuclear magnetic resonance, is reported. The results are explained in terms of a two-phase model in which a phase containing imperfections coexists with a phase without imperfections. The similarity between the transition between these two phases and a martensitic transition is emphasised.
